Simon came to Edinburgh from London via Abu Dhabi, settling in the Feu in the summer of 2013. He has worked in Financial Services since graduation and is currently based in Glasgow. He is one of the many dog owners in the area and can be occasionally seen chasing after a boisterous puppy. Additionally, he plays Golf. Badly.

Treasurer

After retiring from veterinary practice in Yorkshire in 2019 Gordon retired back to Edinburgh in 2019, with his wife Joan. He only just managed to retain his sanity during the renovation of the flat they bought in Moray Place. When not walking his dog, Gordon can usually be found on a golf course.

Secretary

Fiona and her family moved to Great Stuart Street in 2003. She works as a publicist and writer. Fiona has worked on many showsat the Edinburgh Fringe, she was a commissioning editor at The Scotsman and continues to write a fortnightly column for the Edinburgh Evening News. She can often be seen in the gardens with her chocolate working cocker spaniel, Bruce.

Grace was introduced to the Moray Feu in 1978 when she got her first dog and became an outside subscriber. She then moved to the Feu two years later where she had hoped to buy a flat with a garden, but the Feu gardens are certainly not second best! Walking the dog in the bank gardens before school until she retired in 2006 was the most wonderful way to start the day.

When she moved to Forres Street in 1980, she did a nine-year stint on the Gardens Committee. Her main role was social, organising drinks parties after the AGM and at Christmas.

She says that walking the dog four times a day and watching the seasons change, and the trees and plants develop is a huge privilege.

She served on the Council of the Cockburn Association, the Edinburgh Civic Trust, for nearly 20 years.

James Drummond Young was a judge of the Inner House of the Court of Session until 2020. Since then he has resumed practice at the bar as a KC, conducting advisory work and specializing in commercial and financial law, including the law of trusts. He was chairman of the Scottish Law Commission from 2007 to 2011, and maintains a connection with the Commission, advocating reform of the law in important areas, especially in the commercial and financial field. He has lived in Ainslie Place for more than 50 years.
He is particularly concerned to preserve the amenity of the Moray Feu, and the New Town moregenerally. The New Town is the largest and best preserved example of late 18th and 19th
-century architecture in the world, and it is important that its amenity should be preserved as a desirable place to live. This involves in particular the control of traffic and ensuring that proper and informed decisions are made on planning applications. So far as the Feu is concerned it is essential that the interests of the residents should be properly represented on the New Town and Broughton Community Council, and that effective representations on behalf of the residents should be made to the City of Edinburgh Council on any planning or traffic matters that affect the Feu. The MFNRA is intended to achieve those important objectives of behalf of the residents.
James Drummond Young is a member of the Traffic Committee of the MFNRA, and is willing to discuss any legal issues that arise in connection with the MFNRA’s work.

Andy has been a New Town resident for over fourteen years, living for most of that time in Doune Terrace . He has a strong interest in promoting the conservation of the area whilst accommodating the needs of 21st Century lifestyles. He has over 40 years’ experience working in the public and private sectors, mainly on transport and planning matters. He is keen to help the Residents Association build a strong rapport with the Council and ensure that the voice of residents is clearly heard. MFNRA representative for Edinburgh World Heritage
